Find the right pro without the runaround

Pick your trade. Every business on the list has already been checked, so you can stop scrolling search results and start getting quotes. Each trade page also explains what drives the cost in Ogden, what Utah requires and how to choose.

How it works for you

A few minutes from "I need someone" to a request in a real local pro's inbox. Free, and nobody else gets your details.

  1. Pick your trade

Plumber, roofer, electrician, cleaner: 18 trades, each with a short list of vetted local businesses.

  2. Compare a few, not a few hundred

Ten at most per trade. See their hours, service area, what they take, and the license and insurance we checked.

  3. Call or request a free quote

You deal with the business directly. Your request goes to that one business, not to a pack of competitors calling you back.

Why we built this

Search shows you everyone. We show you who's real.

When we looked up pest control in Ogden on Google Maps in October 2026, three of the results were businesses on throwaway web addresses with between one and five reviews each. They sat in the same list as established local operators, and looked just as real.

It isn't just pest control. In every trade we checked, roughly a third of what came back was out of the area, a supplier rather than a service, or something worse. Firms from Salt Lake and Davis County list Ogden as a service area. National call centers route the job to whoever is free. Some lead sites sell your request to several businesses at once. None of that shows in the results.

We do the homework, so you don't have to.

Every business here passed the same checks, recorded with the date. One that doesn't pass isn't listed, whatever it's willing to pay. We write every listing ourselves from what we verified, so you're reading facts, not a sales pitch.

Why homeowners start here

No lead-selling. No paid top spots. No spam.

Most home-service sites make money in ways you can't see from the page. Here's what's different when you use Best in Ogden.

Every pro passes the same three checks

So when you call, you're calling someone local, accountable and properly set up for the job.

Then we check credentials against the source and show them on the listing with the date:

The rules are public on purpose. Know a listed business that breaks one? Tell us and we'll check again.

Read the full vetting checklist

  1. They're actually here

A real address in Ogden or one of the nine towns around it. Not a mailbox service, and not a Salt Lake or Davis County office with Ogden on a service-area map.

  2. Ogden is their home turf

Not the edge of a radius drawn from Lehi. Their work is mostly here, so they know Ogden homes, Ogden permits and Ogden winters.

  3. Someone local answers for the work

Locally owned and operated, with an owner or local manager accountable for the job. A locally owned franchise can pass. A national call center can't.

Every pro on the list earned their place

We don't rank businesses best to worst. They all passed the same checks, and any of them is a good place to start, so pick on what matters to you: who's nearby, who's open, who does exactly your job.

To keep it fair, the order rotates on the 1st of every month. Nobody's permanently first, and nobody can pay to be. A business's fee buys a place on the list, never the top of it.

Questions homeowners ask

Straight answers about how the list works, who pays and who doesn't. Something missing? Ask us.

Is Best in Ogden free for homeowners?

Yes. You never pay us and we never sell your details. If you contact a business from its page, your message goes to that one business. We keep a copy so we can show each business how many inquiries its listing sent, which is how we know the list is useful.

Do businesses pay to be listed?

Yes, and we say so. A business pays a flat annual fee to hold a slot, and only after it has passed vetting. The fee does not change the order, it cannot buy a place above anyone else, and it cannot buy a slot in a trade that is already full.

How does a business get on the list?

It applies. We check the three tests (based in the Ogden area, Ogden as a primary market, locally owned and operated), then the Utah license where the trade requires one, proof of insurance, the Google review history and that a person in Ogden answers the phone. We record the date and who checked. Then we write the listing ourselves.

Why only ten per trade?

A shortlist only means something if it is short. Ten is enough to give you a real choice in a city Ogden's size, and few enough that every business on it has been looked at properly. When a trade is full, it is full.

Why is the order different from last month?

Because the businesses are not ranked. Every one passed the same checks, so the order rotates on the 1st of each month. Everyone sees the same order for the whole month.

Can a franchise be listed?

A locally owned franchise can, if an owner in the Ogden area runs local crews and answers for the work. A national brand's call center that routes jobs to whoever is free cannot.

What counts as the Ogden area?

A real business address in Ogden, South Ogden, North Ogden, Washington Terrace, Riverdale, Roy, Harrisville, Pleasant View, Marriott-Slaterville or West Haven. A mailbox service or virtual office does not count.

Why does a trade show fewer than ten businesses?

Because we will not fill a slot with a business that fails the checks. A trade with four businesses says 4 of 10, and the other six slots stay open until someone qualifies.
